The Asia Pacific region is incredibly diverse and includes 38 National Societies, reaching from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the west, to China and Korea in the north, and Tonga and Samoa in the south east. Climate change poses a ‘profound existential threat’ for Asia and the Pacific. Several countries have a high prevalence of climate-sensitive diseases. Climate change exacerbates food and nutrition crises. The Philippines, Vietnam, and Myanmar have faced more extreme weather in the past 10 years than all other top climate-risk countries combined.

Climate-resilient health and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) Strategic Framework 2025 – 2030 for Asia Pacific

This Strategic Framework outlines IFRC, Partners’ and National Societies ’work in Asia Pacific over the next five years to catalyse actions and aspirations on climate-resilient health and WASH programming.

It emphasizes the importance of investments for climate resilient health and WASH systems, and articulates a shared vision for healthy and thriving communities across Asia Pacific who are more resilient and better prepared for the impacts of evolving crises and the changing climate.

The Asia Pacific Emergency Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Strategy 2021-2030 is a longer-term framework for Asia Pacific National Societies and IFRC to scale up programming in emergency WASH.

This strategy represents a convergence of regional priorities resulting from se, together with analyses consultations with various groups working in emergency WASH and disaster response of current environments and experiences of past operations.
