Gender, inclusion and participation analysis for WASH

Session length: 30 minutes

Purpose

This activity can be used to:

  1. Understand how easily different people can access WASH facilities
  2. Understand how much different people in the community (and project) are participating in activities, how likely they are to speak and be listened to, and who has power in the decision making process
  3. Understand people’s roles in relation to sanitation and hygiene in the home

Learning objectives

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Recognise that some people have more difficulty in accessing WASH facilities and information than others.
  • Reflect that some people are able to participate, and be listened to, in community decision making processes (and that sometimes “outsiders” such as project staff make all the decisions for people anyway).
