Training exercise: Nzaui handpump case study

This is a training exercise for community volunteers to practise finding the cause of a handpump problem. Participants read a short story about a community handpump that stopped giving water and discuss what the real problem is, how to find out and what to do. It helps volunteers think about what an operator or water committee could identify and repair themselves, and when to ask for help.

Time: 60 mins
Format: Small group work

From the curriculum for community volunteers on repair and maintenance of water supply systems (Kenya and Uganda).
